Chakkarai Pongal

- 1 cup Rice
- ¼ cup Moong Dal
- 2 cups Jaggery (powdered)
- ¼ cup Ghee
- 15 nos Cashews
- 8 nos Raisins
- 4 nos Cardamon
- 4 cups Water & 1/2 cup Milk
- ½ cup Water for melting jaggery
Method :
- Dry roast moong dal under low flame seperately ,should not take more than 4 minutes.
- Wash rice, add roasted moong dal & Add milk and required water with them and cook till done.
- Dissolve jaggery with 1/2 cup of water & melt completely without any lumps.
- Add thoroughly cooked rice and dal mixture to the jaggery syrup and mix well.
- Fry raisins and cashewnuts in ghee.
- Add cashewnuts,raisins,Crushed cardamom into it and stir it well.
- Cook everything on medium flame until it thickens and becomes sticky.
- Serve it hot.
